Boonville (Mo.) four-star defensive end DJ Wesolak’s recruitment has exploded in recent months. Coming off a junior season for the Pirates that saw him post 30 solo tackles, 16 tackles for losses and five sacks, Wesolak is as dominant a defensive lineman as you will find in central Missouri.
Since receiving his first offer from Tennessee last August, the class of 2022 prospect has racked up 34 more offers to date. In addition to the offer from Illinois, the 6-foot-5, 230-pound standout also has offers from the likes of Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Iowa State, Penn State, Indiana, Oregon, Washington, and Missouri, to name some.

Illinois offered DJ Wesolak on February 2nd. Wesolak on how it feels to be offered by Illinois, “It was amazing!” he said. “It was great to hear it from there head coach”. We also discussed how his conversation went with Illinois, “It was great to talk to the head coach and the defensive staff they loved me film and how much of a high caliber player I could be.” Wesolak spoke about what he likes about Coach Bielema. He said, “The knowledge he brings to the game” he said. “He knows a lot and he is ready to win.”
Wesolak told me that the offer from Illinois interest him. “They’ve had their ups and downs in the past, but they’ve brought a great staff in and I think all of them guys are ready to change the program and ready to win. Considering his recruitment has just started to heat up, Wesolak currently does not have a timetable for when he will make his college decision in the future.
